David Babayan, former foreign minister of Artsakh who is being held captive in Azerbaijan, has addressed an appeal to all human rights defenders and people of good will. The audio message was passed on to NEWS.am by David Babayan’s family.
“Dear compatriots, dear friends, brothers and sisters, Armenians all over the world, all our brothers and sisters abroad, people of good will, you know that the appeal stage of our so-called trial has also ended. What kind of trial is this? It is a performance whose script was written in advance. They didn’t even dare to correct elementary mistakes,” Babayan noted.
According to him, this was a purely formal stage that had to be passed through in order to later use it to appeal to an international court.
Concluding his appeal, Babayan noted that fighting for justice is one thing, but being imprisoned for it is another. “But know that, although we are imprisoned, we have not gotten down on our knees, and let everyone know this. Otherwise everything is fine, be strong, dear compatriots, people of good will, difficult events still await our Homeland,” he concluded.
