Yerevan and Baku agree to conduct delimitation work from north to south: Bayramov

Azerbaijan and Armenia have agreed to carry out state border delimitation work from north to south. This was stated to journalists by Jeyhun Bayramov, Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, according to Azerbaijani media.

According to him, Yerevan and Baku reached an agreement that the state border delimitation process would proceed from north to south, starting from the point where the borders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia meet. According to Bayramov, the state commission on delimitation is headed, on the Azerbaijani side, by Shahin Mustafayev, Deputy Prime Minister.

The Minister added that over the past period, the commissions of the two countries have held numerous meetings, and a number of documents governing the commissions’ activities have been adopted and approved in both Azerbaijan and Armenia. “There is an agreement on which direction the delimitation process for our common border should begin from and proceed. There is agreement and mutual understanding that the work will begin with the more complex northern section of the border, from the point where the borders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia meet, and will proceed from north to south,” he said, emphasizing that more specific issues will be discussed during the work of the delimitation commissions.
