Yerevan has not signaled withdrawal of Russian military base – Maria Zakharova

Yerevan has not signaled any plans to withdraw the 102nd military base, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in a press briefing on Wednesday.

“As for the Russian military base located in Armenia, we have not received any signals from Yerevan about its potential withdrawal. The republic’s officials confirm, including publicly, that such matters are not on the agenda.

Yerevan understands that the Russian military presence is a key component of the region’s security architecture. The location and operations of the base are regulated by relevant bilateral agreements between Armenia and Russia,” Zakharova noted.
