Youri Djorkaeff’s brother appointed head coach of Armenian U19 football team

Misha Djorkaeff, brother of world and European football champion Youri Djorkaeff, has been appointed head coach of the Armenian U19 national team, the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) reports.
Under his leadership, the team will hold a training camp from June 1 to 4 before departing for Moldova on June 5 to play friendly matches against Georgia U19, Moldova U19, and Moldova U20.
Former head coach Vahagn Minasyan has transitioned to the coaching staff of the senior national team.
Youri Djorkaeff, of Armenian descent on his mother’s side, has frequently expressed his deep connection to Armenian history and culture. In particular, he and his Spanish wife were married in an Armenian church. Djorkaeff is the 1998 World Champion, 2000 European Champion and 2001 Confederations Cup winner with the French national team. At the club level, he won the 1996 Cup Winners’ Cup with Paris Saint-Germain and the 1998 UEFA Cup with Inter Milan. He finished his playing career in 2006 with the New York Red Bulls. In 2020, his other brother, Denis, was appointed advisor to the president of the Football Federation of Armenia.
