Informal meeting of heads of CIS states scheduled for December 26

An extraordinary meeting of the leaders of the CIS countries will take place on December 18 in Russia, while an informal meeting will be held on December 26, CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev told reporters in Minsk, RIA Novosti reports.

“With regard to the upcoming handover of the chairmanship [of Russia], two important events are scheduled: the meeting of the leaders of the CIS countries; then, a week later, in St. Petersburg, there will be sessions of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council at the level of presidents on December 25; and an informal meeting of the leaders of the countries will be held on December 26,” he said.

Lebedev noted that an extraordinary meeting will be held in Moscow on December 18 on the initiative of Russia.

“Prime Ministers of the CIS countries will exchange their views on CIS activity at the end of the year and will discuss topical questions,” he added.
