Many European countries will hold snap elections, conservative forces will come to power – Grigor Balasanyan

The common fight against Russia was the only unifying factor with the help of which the US and the EU moved forward, international affairs expert Grigor Balasanyan told Alpha News.
“What is happening in the West today essentially shows that there has always been a deep split between the US and the EU. The common fight against Russia became the only unifying factor that moved the US and the EU forward. As soon as the US decided to pursue a slightly different policy towards Russia and try to reach an agreement, the political nakedness of the collective West immediately became obvious, since, apart from the West as a whole, the EU had nothing to offer Ukraine, since the US took on the entire burden of arms supplies and financial flows.
In addition, there is another important circumstance. NATO as a structure has shown that the efficiency that was talked about so much was developed around the United States. As soon as the United States called on the EU countries to pay for their own security, or the US President thought that perhaps it was time to withdraw American troops from the Baltic States, it immediately became obvious that the EU itself is not capable of ensuring its own security. Here it is not only a certain transformation in the relations between the two opposing groups, but also serious processes taking place in the West as a whole. Trump is, in fact, one of the few leaders who shows the West that ‘the king is naked in any case.’ In other words, without the United States, Europe cannot be an independent geopolitical center,” Balasanyan noted.
The expert stressed that elections will be held in a number of EU countries, and either right-wing or conservative forces will come to power.
“When they talk about the European Union, it seems that it is an ideal organization where there are no problems. But when Trump started talking about the real situation, problems began to emerge within the EU. I do not rule out that there will be states that will isolate themselves and try to buy time, but there will not be many of them. What will the European Union do to adapt to Trump’s new policy? Undoubtedly, elections will be held in these countries. And, judging by the situation, either right-wing or conservative forces fighting for the preservation of national values will come to power. Their arrival will contribute to both the normalization of relations between them and Trump, and the normalization of relations between them and Russia,” Balasanyan concluded.
