Armenia is not sufficiently prepared for confrontation with other countries — The People Speak

As part of “The People Speak” project, Alpha News conducted surveys in Yerevan and Armenian communities in the United States and Russia to gather public opinion on key issues in recent years.
When asked whether Armenians and Turks can become friends and live peacefully, one respondent said, “There was a Genocide in the history of the Armenian people, and we cannot forget it, close our eyes to it and erase it from our lives. That is why we cannot become friends or establish friendly relations with Turks.”
Another participant emphasized, “We live in the same territory and we cannot force Turkey to move to Antarctica or Azerbaijan to go to the North Pole. We have to live here whether we like it or not. Therefore, it is very desirable to establish good neighborly relations with the Turks. This is a necessity.”
Several citizens expressed that while Armenians will never forget their pain, they should not continue living with hostility either.
