Tehran and Yerevan have reached an agreement to launch a major infrastructure project: the construction of a railway route connecting the Persian Gulf coast to the Black Sea. The announcement was made by Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Farzaneh Sadegh, as reported by Fars News Agency.

According to Sadegh, the new transport corridor will rely on existing logistics hubs in Iran’s southern ports and will serve as a key link for transit between Iran, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and European countries.

Sadegh noted that the railway has already been extended to the city of Julfa, located on the Iran-Azerbaijan border. The next phase will involve continuing the route through Nakhichevan, which both sides consider strategically important for the full realization of the project.
