Perks Armenia and Azerbaijan received from Russia have come to an end – Vasily Koltashov
Speaking with Alpha News, political scientist Vasily Koltashov commented on the further development of relations between Russia and Azerbaijan and Armenia.
“The negotiations between Russia and the US will not affect the South Caucasus in any way—except that Moscow is starting to look much more soberly at what is happening there and what the Americans are doing there. The Americans, apparently, are now shaping a coalition of Armenia and Azerbaijan under the subtle supervision of Turkey. This coalition will have to help Azerbaijan enter the war with Russia. This is what is visible in the long term.
That is why Russian aviation is so mercilessly destroying Azerbaijani oil refineries, storage facilities and other facilities on the territory of the former Soviet Ukraine. It also explains the recent arrests and expulsions of anti-Russian activists linked to Azerbaijani ethno-lobbyist groups. This is all a consequence of what is happening in the South Caucasus region. And it is becoming clear that after some time, the Russian military will be removed from Armenia. It is also clear that relations with the current leadership of Armenia will sharply deteriorate, and relations with Azerbaijan will deteriorate even more. Trade will cease—we are entering a very difficult period,” Koltashov said.
