The award ceremony of the International Eurasia Prize, aimed at supporting people and organizations that contribute to the development of the countries of the Eurasian continent, took place at the Russia National Center in Moscow. More than 5,500 applications were submitted to the competition from 73 countries, including Armenia.

Sergey Lavrov, Foreign Minister of Russia, welcomed the guests of the ceremony, stressing Eurasia’s special role in uniting peoples and civilizations. “Eurasia is our home, the largest and richest continent in the world, where several of the greatest millennia-old civilizations are located. It is gratifying that the prize of the same name, uniting more and more people around the ideals of friendship and creation, contributes to expanding international humanitarian cooperation and preserving our common cultural, historical and spiritual heritage,” Lavrov said.

Awards were presented in 10 categories for promoting the Russian language, preserving traditional values, and developing culture and education. The prize’s total prize fund is 17 million rubles.

The winner of the open international vote in the “By the Call of the Heart” category was phlebologist Khachatur Kurginyan, with the project “Phlebology Without Borders”.

Tigran Kocharyan, ambassador of the Eurasia Prize, noted that the start of the organization’s work in Armenia was a new and interesting phenomenon, and that today it is already possible to speak about the results of its activities. “When Eurasia only began working in Armenia, it was a new and interesting phenomenon, and today we already see the results of this work,” Kocharyan said.

Alena Arshinova, Chair of the Coordination Council of ANO Eurasia and member of the State Duma of Russia, stressed that cooperation with Armenia is one of the organization’s priority areas. She also spoke about a humanitarian campaign in support of forcibly displaced people from Nagorno-Karabakh. “Cooperation with Armenia is one of the priority areas of our activities, since Russia regards Armenia as a friendly country. I would also like to note that it was important and meaningful for ANO Eurasia to support the forcibly displaced people from Nagorno-Karabakh,” Arshinova said.

Mika Badalyan, member of the council of ANO Eurasia, drew attention to the fact that the prize brings together like-minded people from different countries and creates opportunities for exchanging experience. “It is an opportunity to gather in one place hundreds of people united by a common idea and to share experience,” Badalyan noted.

Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of the Rossiya Segodnya (Russia Today) media group and the RT TV channel and member of the board of trustees of ANO Eurasia, also took part in the award ceremony and in congratulating the laureates.

The ceremony was accompanied by a multimedia show and musical and dance performances.

The Eurasia Prize brings together participants from different countries who carry out socially significant initiatives and develop professional and humanitarian ties.
