Speaking with Alpha News, public figure and naturopath Marat Hayrapetyan answered the question of what prevents Armenians living in the United States from uniting outside of Glendale or California.

“It’s unfortunate but a fact that we don’t have any Armenian representatives in the California legislature. Only John Hayrapetyan, who is half Armenian. There are no Armenians in the state Senate, let alone the federal Senate or Congress,” Hayrapetyan noted, emphasizing that one of the problems in the Diaspora is the lack of unity. “We all want to be generals, no one wants to work for someone else, everyone wants to be on the front lines,” he said.

He cited the Glendale municipal elections as an example, calling them a disgrace. “Let’s sit down together and decide who truly needs to be there—who is the most suitable, not necessarily the best or most deserving. Getting into the city council shouldn’t just be about ambition,” added Marat Hayrapetyan.
