Syrian Armenians faced a difficult dawn, Maria Gabrielyan, spokesperson for the Armenian Diocese of Aleppo, said in an interview with Alpha News.
“There were intense clashes between Kurdish forces and government troops. By order of the Governor of Aleppo, all state institutions have been closed,” she said.
Gabrielyan noted that tension and armed presence in the streets persist.
She also reported that although Armenian neighborhoods are very close to Kurdish areas, no serious damage has been observed. “Armenian schools and churches, naturally, continue to operate, and the official newspaper of the diocese is still being published. In short, the national cultural life is functioning normally,” Gabrielyan added.
