Academician Hrachia Acharian’s 150th anniversary included in UNESCO Calendar

The UNESCO Calendar of anniversaries for 2026–2027 will feature the 150th anniversary of the birth of Armenian academician Hrachia Acharian, Armenia’s Foreign Ministry reports.

The decision was adopted during the 43rd session of UNESCO’s General Conference held in Samarkand.

Acharian (1876–1953) was one of the founders of academic linguistics in Armenia.

The calendar will also include the 100th anniversary of the start of construction of Republic Square (1927).
