Armenia remains CSTO ally – Secretary General

Armenia has been and remains an ally of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), and the doors remain open for the republic’s full participation, CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov told TASS.
When asked whether Armenia might leave the organization—given that it did not pay its 2024 membership fee and in light of media reports suggesting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan planned to consider withdrawal in February 2026—Tasmagambetov responded:
“As is known, the Republic of Armenia has paused its work in the organization, which reflects the current position of Armenia’s political leadership regarding the CSTO. This is the decision of an independent and sovereign state, which no other country or organization can influence. At the same time, Armenia has been and remains our ally. We hope that Armenia will, in the foreseeable future, return to full participation in the CSTO. All the conditions and prerequisites exist for this. We assume that the people of Armenia are interested in creating a common security space in Eurasia. Moreover, in November the Armenian Foreign Ministry stated that the republic’s withdrawal from the CSTO is not on the agenda.”
