The situation surrounding the Church is a national disgrace: Samvel Karapetyan

What is happening around the Armenian Apostolic Church is a shared disgrace, Samvel Karapetyan, leader of the “Strong Armenia” party, told journalists.

Speaking about statements by members of the ruling force that they received an electoral mandate to regulate church affairs or carry out “reforms,” Karapetyan called this a national disgrace.

“As for their programs for 2026-2031 and their open plans to supposedly reform the Church, remove the Supreme Patriarch, or appoint a new Catholicos, I can say one thing: they will only manage to reform themselves,” the party leader noted.
