Aram Vardevanyan, deputy speaker of the National Assembly and MP from “Strong Armenia,” commented to journalists on a possible scenario in which opposition candidates might not be elected to the positions of chairpersons of the National Assembly’s standing committees, noting that their faction has a specific tactic for any situation and that it is simply necessary to wait.
According to him, depending on the results, the faction will present its position. Vardevanyan emphasized that the nomination of opposition candidates should be governed by legal, rather than political, principles.
“The opposition faction nominated its candidates, and this should be respected. I am describing this from the standpoint of a classical, high democratic standard,” he noted.
