The administration of US President Donald Trump has decided to recall Ambassador to Armenia Kristina Kvien, AP reports.

Ambassadors and senior diplomats from about 30 countries worldwide, including the US envoy to Armenia, will be recalled. A source told the agency that the diplomats’ terms of office expire in January 2026.

Diplomatic missions were informed of the personnel changes last week. AP noted that all the outgoing ambassadors were appointed under former President Joe Biden. The new US diplomatic strategy calls for bringing in personnel who fully support Donald Trump’s “America First” priorities.

The agency also clarified that ambassadors will not lose their positions within the diplomatic service but will return to Washington “for other assignments should they wish to take them.” The State Department emphasized that an ambassador is “a personal representative of the president and it is the president’s right to ensure that he has individuals in these countries who advance the America First agenda.”
