‘It is hard to call it peace when Armenia sacrifices its vital interests’ – Levon Kocharyan

This is not peace; this is a ceasefire dependent on one man, Levon Kocharyan, a Member of Parliament from the Armenia faction, said in an interview with Alpha News.
“It is hard to call peace a situation in which Armenia sacrifices its vital and national interests by making unilateral concessions,” Kocharyan said.
According to him, Azerbaijan receives everything it wants, while the authorities obediently comply.
The MP emphasized that peace is only possible when the adversary does not dare to attack, knowing it will face an appropriate response. Kocharyan also noted that the “peace” proposed by Pashinyan is in reality a continuous retreat.
“We want a dignified peace. Without taking our agenda into account, there will be no peace. For example, the right of Artsakh Armenians to return must be secured, as well as the protection of cultural heritage,” Kocharyan stressed.
He noted that the government’s harsh rhetoric and repressive measures are directly proportional to its declining approval rating:
“Nikol Pashinyan says: ‘I am the government, I am the judiciary, I am the law enforcement system.’ The fate of the entire country has been concentrated in the hands of one unbalanced and shortsighted man.”
The MP also addressed being targeted by Turkish-Azerbaijani media, considering it the result of his principled stance.
“Nikol Pashinyan may later be awarded the title of national hero in Azerbaijan, because what he has done for Azerbaijan and Turkey could not have been achieved by them alone. Of course, I will be targeted, because we speak about national dignity and a strong army,” he added.
