The Secretariat of Iran’s Defense Council issued a strong official statement in response to escalating threats and interference in the country’s internal affairs. Tehran formally set clear boundaries and warned of its readiness to use force, according to the IRNA news agency.
The document emphasized that the nation’s security and sovereignty are non-negotiable. Security, independence, and territorial integrity of Iran were described as “an inviolable red line.” Any encroachment on national interests or attempts to destabilize the situation inside the country will trigger “a proportionate, decisive, and determining response.”
The statement emphasized Iran’s reliance on “national unity and comprehensive deterrent capabilities.”
“Within the framework of lawful defense, the Islamic Republic of Iran does not limit itself to reacting only after an attack has occurred, and considers tangible signs of threat as part of its security equation,” the statement read.
The warning came amid recent aggressive statements from Washington and a US military operation in Venezuela, which Iran viewed as a dangerous precedent violating international law. Analysts note that the wording about “tangible signs of threat” may signal Iran’s readiness for preemptive action should an adversary prepare an attack.
