Karen Khachanov defeats Nishesh Basavareddy in second round of Australian Open

Russian Armenian tennis player Karen Khachanov advanced to the third round of the Australian Open, held on the hard courts of Melbourne, with a straight-sets victory over American Nishesh Basavareddy.

The match ended 6–1, 6–4, 6–3 and lasted 1 hour 57 minutes.

In the third round, the 29-year-old Khachanov will face the winner of the match between Luciano Darderi (Italy) and Sebastián Báez (Argentina).
