‘Absurd story—does this mean there should be no election campaign?’ – Alexander Kochubaev

Lawyer Alexander Kochubaev commented on the detentions in Vagharshapat carried out by law enforcement officers.

Earlier, Sevak Khachatryan, the head of the “Victory” faction, had posted on Facebook about the beginning of repressions in Vagharshapat against various individuals with opposition views. Since early morning, more than ten people had been detained in the enlarged community.

According to the lawyer, the legal process is based on “absurd” logic.

“The search warrants describe a situation in which certain individuals influenced voters’ opinions through campaigning. The whole point of campaigning is to influence the voter, which they are now trying to present as a crime. Does this mean there should be no election campaign at all? It’s an absurd story,” Kochubaev said.
