Karen Khachanov advances to Round of 16 at ATP Doha

Russian tennis player of Armenian origin Karen Khachanov (No. 17) defeated Japan’s Shintaro Mochizuki (No. 117) to advance to the Round of 16 at the ATP tournament in Doha.

Khachanov secured a comeback victory, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4, and will continue his campaign at the tournament. In the Round of 16 in Doha, he is set to face Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics (No. 61).

Khachanov has seven ATP titles to his name. His best Grand Slam results include reaching the semifinals of the US Open in 2022 and the Australian Open in 2023. In 2021, he won the silver medal in singles at the Olympic Games and, as a member of the Russian team, captured the Davis Cup.
