Aram Shahnazaryan, editor-in-chief of the Alik daily, told Alpha News that Armenian-populated areas were among those damaged in the attack on Tehran.

“The strike hit the part of the city where many Armenians live. Several houses belonging to our compatriots were destroyed,” Shahnazaryan said.

He reported that the building of the Armenian National Cultural Union of Tehran was also damaged in the missile attack. “According to posts circulating on social media, a young Armenian was injured in the strike,” he added.

Shahnazaryan noted that due to internet restrictions in Iran, it is difficult to obtain information, and most updates come from short messages appearing on social media.

“Information mainly comes from Facebook posts. Given how quickly such news spreads within the community, it can be considered fairly reliable,” he said.

Shahnazaryan further mentioned that it is almost impossible to establish contact with Armenians living in Tehran, and sometimes only short messages can be received.

“Phone communication is nearly impossible. You can only manage to talk if you’re lucky enough for WhatsApp to connect,” Shahnazaryan said.
