Israel’s goal is to become the regional leader in the Middle East: Karen Kocharyan
US President Donald Trump announced a two-week ceasefire with Iran two hours before the deadline set for Tehran expired. On Truth Social, Trump wrote that Pakistan had asked for a two-week pause on the “devastating” strike against Iran, in exchange for which Tehran agreed to the “full, immediate, and safe opening” of the Strait of Hormuz.
Alpha News spoke with political strategist Karen Kocharyan on this topic.
According to him, what is currently underway between the parties is classic political negotiation, in which each side is trying to push its own terms as far as possible.
“I hope the parties will reach a common ground, but I cannot say that the ceasefire will definitively lead to peace. We can see that today’s world is unpredictable and follows no rules, so I will refrain from making such claims,” said Karen Kocharyan.
He also stressed that Israel’s objective today is to become the regional leader in the Middle East.
