Human rights advocate Ewelina Ochab published an article in Forbes, commenting on the humanitarian crisis in Artsakh as a result of the Lachin Corridor blockade imposed by Azerbaijan.

In the article, the human rights advocate cited the UN experts’ announcement of August 7 that the only road connecting Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia has been blocked for the past 7 months, leaving the population without food, medication and hygiene products.

Ochab recalled the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights and the International Court of Justice on ensuring the safe passage of persons and vehicles through the Lachin corridor, noting that Azerbaijan did not act upon the order and the corridor continues to be blocked.

She also referred to the report of Luis Ocampo, the first Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, where the latter stated that Azerbaijan is committing genocide in Nagorno-Karabakh.

“The reports of the dire situation in Nagorno-Karabakh must be taken seriously at last and acted upon. As Nagorno-Karabakh is being starved, the international community cannot continue looking away as it has done for the last eight months. The people of Nagorno-Karabakh require urgent assistance without any further excuses”, Ochab wrote.
