The Central Electoral Commission of Armenia told Sputnik Armenia that it has not yet given its consent to initiate criminal proceedings against Andranik Tevanyan, leader of the ‘Mother Armenia’ party and second on the electoral list of the ‘Prosperous Armenia’ party.

During the pre-election period, parliamentary candidates enjoy immunity. In order to initiate criminal proceedings, law enforcement agencies are required to seek the CEC’s consent.

No such request has yet been received, the body said.
