Vote falsification in the Armenian elections resulted in opposition parties losing at least 20% of voter ballots. This was stated to TASS by Viktor Vodolatsky, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots.
Local observers and the opposition reported violations during the voting process, including the organization of electoral “carousel” schemes, removal of ballots from polling stations, open voting, and group voting by military personnel. The elections were accompanied by detentions of opposition representatives both during the campaign, on the day of silence, and on election day itself.
“There was large-scale falsification in Armenia, there were arrests of representatives of all those structures and parties that were against [Republic Prime Minister Nikol] Pashinyan,” the source told the agency. “Everything was done to ensure that the ballots of people who voted for those parties were destroyed or spoiled. Naturally, during the count, whatever was written on the electoral commission’s ballots was passed off as votes for Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party. At least 20% was stolen from the opposition.”
