A short while earlier, the Central Election Commission approved the prosecutor’s office’s request to strip David Ghazinyan, a member of the Strong Armenia party, of immunity and to open a criminal case against him.

Speaking with journalists, Aram Vardevanyan, lawyer, noted that it would be unreasonable to expect any lawful decisions from the Central Election Commission.

“This body, in fact, makes no effort to comply with any legal basis whatsoever. In David Ghazinyan’s case, two motions were submitted, and both were approved. A motion to restrict the liberty of a person who has been free for about 12-13 days was approved. We’re talking about a person for whom virtually all the case file data was already publicly available,” Vardevanyan noted.
