Armen Melikbekyan, president of the Football Federation of Armenia, has announced that he does not intend to stand in the FFA presidential election scheduled for late 2026.
According to him, he is currently focused on upcoming tasks: the Champions League and the U20 World Cup 2026.
“I am not thinking about the election and do not intend to run,” Melikbekyan said in a podcast with Armen Garamyan.
He stressed that he will continue to work in football, holding positions on the UEFA and FIFA executive committees. Commenting on the resignation of his deputy Armen Nikoghosyan, Melikbekyan recalled that the latter had stated in advance that he was completing his final term and would not be seeking re-election.
