The shortage of apricots and peaches is due to the hail that fell earlier this season, a woman selling agricultural produce said in an Alpha News poll.

“There was a lot of rain, and there was no pollination. Even though there was no frost, the harvest is still small because of the lack of pollination,” she noted.

However, according to the woman, despite the small harvest, the costs of processing it are high, and there’s no trade to speak of.

“The prices aren’t acceptable, because when there’s little product, naturally it costs more. And that’s not affordable for everyone. Not everyone can buy it. There are moments when you just start to feel sorry for people. If this continues, farmers won’t even work the land anymore, since they won’t be able to sell their harvest,” the Alpha News source said.
