A week after elections, armed SRC officers raided Sirusho’s stores: Levon Kocharyan

Levon Kocharyan, deputy from the “Armenia” faction, told journalists at the National Assembly that if their ultimate goal had been to preserve their property and assets, they would not have entered the political struggle, but would have sold their property and left the country. He made this comment regarding the authorities’ actions against opposition figures and businesses linked to them.

“By entering this struggle, we realized that what is being used against us is not the law, but the whims of one person. Seeing the brazen actions against Gagik Tsarukyan, we fully understand that this could happen to anyone, especially to us. But this struggle is not about property or wealth, it’s about something much deeper, something ideological,” he noted.

The deputy also said that just a week after the parliamentary elections, officers of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) began inspections at all companies in which members of his family hold a stake.

“A week after the elections, the relevant units of the State Revenue Committee, in uniform and armed, raided all the companies, including the stores and office of my wife, Sirusho. They were unable to find any violations, because there weren’t any. It looked more like an act of intimidation,” the deputy concluded.
