Aram Vardevanyan, candidate for Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly from the “Strong Armenia” party, said at a parliamentary session that he had given up his mandate in 2022 following the failure of the “Resistance Movement,” which had been launched amid the extreme challenges surrounding Artsakh.

He noted that after that he left politics and never imagined he would return to the political arena. “When I received the offer from Samvel Karapetyan, leader of the ‘Strong Armenia’ party, to join them, frankly speaking, I realized that he has an exceptional vision for Armenia’s future. I accepted this offer with honor,” Vardevanyan said.

During the opposition figure’s speech, Lilit Stepanyan, a deputy from “Civil Contract,” recalled Vardevanyan’s 2022 statement about relinquishing his parliamentary mandate. Stepanyan asked whether he would return to that field if the legal community needed him.

In response, Aram Vardevanyan stressed: “I have decided for myself that I will not return to legal practice. This is a path that must be walked to the end.”
