“I consider the trial of the Supreme Patriarch a disgrace to all Armenians”: Samvel Karapetyan

Samvel Karapetyan, leader of the Strong Armenia party, commented to journalists on statements by Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister, that CJSC “Electric Networks of Armenia” (ENA) would be placed under trust management, noting that in order to do so, the authorities must first manage to seize the company.

“Courts exist for that purpose, both domestic Armenian and international. Right now we are fighting against their illegal actions,” Karapetyan said.

Responding to a journalist’s remark that an unprecedented development for recent years is expected, namely that the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, along with six other clergymen, will stand trial, and a reminder that the criminal case brought against him was also initiated after statements made in defense of the Church, Karapetyan noted:

“I consider this a disgrace to all Armenians. I thought the authorities would come to their senses, but they are still continuing what they started.”
