David Ghazinyan, a deputy from the Strong Armenia faction, commented on the legal processes in the country in the National Assembly, asking whether anyone knows in which country of the European Union such family arrests are possible.

“In which EU country is this possible? In my opinion, in none. The question arises: why are such phenomena allowed here, why doesn’t the EU react?” the deputy expressed bewilderment.

Speaking about the current state of the judicial system, Ghazinyan emphasized that in the past there was an unwritten moral norm: if a crime was not particularly serious, two family members would not be imprisoned at the same time.

“Now, if this continues, I can, for my part, make a semi‑sarcastic proposal: at the meetings of the ‘Civil Contract,’ dissolve the entire judicial system; at the meetings of the ‘Civil Contract,’ introduce sanctions under specific articles, carry out arrests by voting, and that’s it. This way, we will save a huge amount of money,” he said.
