RA Ombudsperson initiates review of video involving Gagik Khachatryan

At the initiative of the RA Ombudsperson, a review of the matter was launched immediately after a video of the detention of Gagik Khachatryan, former head of the RA SRC, was circulated online. This was reported by the Human Rights Defender’s Office.

On the Ombudsperson’s instructions, a visit to the penitentiary institution is currently underway to hold a private conversation with the detainee and examine the circumstances related to ensuring his rights are upheld.

To clarify the main circumstances related to this matter, clarifications are being requested from the competent authorities.

It is noted that once the results of the visit, the clarifications received, and all relevant circumstances have been fully reviewed, the Human Rights Defender’s Office will be able to present its position. Information intended for publication will be provided separately by the Ombudsperson’s staff.
