“I spoke with Hajiyev about Gandzasar”: Alen Simonyan

Alen Simonyan, Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, told journalists at the National Assembly that he had spoken with Hikmet Hajiyev, aide to the President of Azerbaijan, following the latter’s scandalous statements.

“Yes, I spoke with Hajiyev. I have his number, he has mine. We talk every 2 days,” he said.

According to Simonyan, every statement coming out of Baku should be met with a response.

He added that this would bring no benefit and would only harm the peace process. Simonyan believes the Armenian side should not get drawn into such discussions.

As a reminder, during a visit by foreign diplomats to occupied Artsakh, Hajiyev called the Armenian monasteries of Gandzasar and Dadivank an “integral part of ancient Albanian Christian heritage.”
