Elida Kocharyan brings Armenia first medal at European Boxing Championship

Elida Kocharyan, competing in the under-65 kg weight category, has secured the Armenian national team’s first medal at the 2026 European Boxing Championship in Sofia.

In the quarterfinal bout, Kocharyan won an early victory over Andra Nicoleta, representative of Romania. The fight was stopped in the second round.

For the Armenian athlete, this victory was already her third at the tournament and her second early win. Kocharyan had previously defeated opponents from Spain and Albania. Reaching the semifinal guaranteed the Armenian representative at least a bronze medal at the European Championship. Kocharyan will compete for a spot in the final against Azaliya Amineva of Russia. The semifinal bout will take place on September 23.
