A peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan may be signed, but there is a risk that it will remain only on paper, Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, said.
The statement came amid assurances from the Armenian authorities that they are ready to conclude the agreement as soon as possible.
At the same time, Baku continues to put forward a strict precondition for signing the document: Azerbaijan demands that the reference to the Declaration of Independence be removed from the preamble of Armenia’s Constitution, seeing it as containing territorial claims against Azerbaijan.
