Over the past year, Armenia’s exports have fallen by 8% while imports have risen by 9.5%. Has Armenia ever before recorded such a poor result in a single year? Narek Karapetyan, head of the Strong Armenia faction, put this question to Gevorg Papoyan, Minister of Economy, in the National Assembly.

“It can be said with confidence, it has not. In 36 years, we have never had such an increase in the deficit,” he said.

Speaking about the decline in agriculture, Karapetyan noted that, according to the National Assembly’s Budget Office, it amounted to 11%, while the latest data published by the Statistical Committee put the decline at 4.8%.
