If tomorrow, September 1, the President of Artsakh resigns, as he has announced today, then within three days the parliament must accept a resignation letter, and the factions will need another seven days to nominate a presidential candidate.

In an interview with Alpha News, Artsakh MP from the Justice faction Metaxe Hakobyan said that only after the resignation of the president it will be possible to talk about the nomination of a presidential candidate.

Despite the fact that the MP considers the resignation of President Arayik Harutyunyan belated, she stressed that it will benefit Artsakh.

“Arayik Harutyunyan made the right decision, of course, this decision should have been made after the 44-day war. Yes, this resignation is too late, but it’s not late to make a breakthrough,” Metaxe Hakobyan said.

The MP expects that the new authorities of Artsakh will be strong, determined and hardworking to be able to lead Artsakh out of the current situation.

“The new authorities must show the will to resist the pressure. Their decisions should express the will and the wish of the people. They should not make decisions causing damage to the state. The new authorities of Artsakh should clearly present their position to the Armenian authorities and the Prime Minister, and also prohibit expressing a position other than the position of Artsakh. The Armenian authorities should understand that if they go against the will of the Armenian people, the least they should do is resign,” Metaxe Hakobyan concluded.
