Russian Duma Member on US aid to Armenia: Overseas “sponsorship” has not benefited any country, bringing grief, blood and destruction

Statements by Principal Deputy US Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasian Affairs Yuri Kim on Armenia’s support in security and cooperation with the United States are aimed at arousing anti-Russian sentiments in the South Caucasus, Member of the Russian Duma Leonid Slutsky told reporters.

Earlier, Yuri Kim said that the United States should expand support to Armenia in development, defense and security as much as possible.

“Yuri Kim at a hearing in the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations of the US Congress stated that it should be about Armenia’s partnership ‘with the US, not with Russia.’ Now Washington is ready to help Yerevan, obviously dreaming of creating a new anti-Russian foothold in the South Caucasus,” Slutsky said.

He noted that similar assistance was offered to Kyiv.

“Overseas ‘sponsorship’ has not benefited any country in the world yet, bringing only troubles and grief, blood and destruction. This is what ultimately leads to ‘partnership’ and ‘development assistance’ in the American way,” he said.
