Russian-Armenian relations will further deteriorate, political scientist says
Speaking to Alpha News, Russian political scientist Alexander Asafov shared his vision of the relationship between Armenia and Russia.
“It is difficult to characterize Russian-Armenian relations in any single direction. The fact is that we are observing rather multidirectional dynamics. And on the one hand, we surely see the opening of the consulate; on the other hand, we see Pashinyan’s very clear declarations. And I believe that it is worth taking into account all the current circumstances. And, of course, in this context, it must be said that Russian-Armenian relations are definitely ‘in a minor key’,” Asafov said.
Speaking about the prospects for relations between the two countries, the political scientist observes a trend towards their deterioration.
“Is it possible to improve them (relations – ed.)? Yes, it is. But in the current situation, given the pressure of the West and the fairly obvious work of the West in this direction, I think that Russian-Armenian relations will further deteriorate,” the expert concluded.
