Armenian community of Berlin is 100 years old

The Armenian community of Berlin celebrated the 100th anniversary of its foundation on November 18. The event took place in the Berlin Evangelical Church of the Holy Trinity (Trinitatiskirche), where Avo Arakelyan, a Persian artist of Armenian origin, has been working for about 40 years.

The event was attended by employees of the Armenian Embassy in Germany. Among the guests were the chair of the Church and Cultural Community of Berlin, Sona Chugazyan-Ayper; members of the Council of the Armenian Community in Berlin; Chair of the Central German-Armenian Council, Jonathan Spangenberg; former German Ambassador to Armenia, Hans-Jochen Schmidt; numerous German and foreign guests; and representatives of the Armenian community.

Violinist Naira Arzumanyan and pianist Zara Stamboltsyan performed music at the anniversary evening, with the works of Komitas, Eduard Baghdasaryan and Aram Khachaturian being presented to the audience.
