Speaking with Alpha News, Ukrainian political scientist Alexander Semchenko commented on the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Yerevan.

According to the expert, Zelensky’s visit to Armenia is simply an element of manipulation introduced for more irritation.

“The wife of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan went to Kyiv, went to Bucha, and told all sorts of nonsense about Russia there, and this caused irritation. Then, Pashinyan suspends membership in the Collective Security Treaty Organization. Besides this, there were many other hostile actions, but all this has not worked yet. Russia has not turned away yet and is still standing behind Armenia, so now with Zelensky’s visit, Armenia is increasing the degree of confrontation since Zelensky himself is an irritating factor for Russia,” Semchenko said.

According to the political scientist, everything that is happening looks like a plan for Armenia’s self-destruction.

“It cannot be worse than what Nikol Pashinyan did and what the visits of Armenian officials to Kyiv did. Everything that is happening—at least what the Armenian leadership is doing, namely, quitting the CSTO and taking hostile actions against Russia in Ukraine—is very similar to a plan for Armenia’s self-destruction. In this situation, many people see the President of Ukraine as a puppet. Perhaps completing this quest leads to some additional guns from his sponsors and from his supervisors. I don’t think Zelensky has any independent goals.

The attitude of these supervisors towards Armenia also surprises me very much. In fact, we are talking about the dissolution of Armenia. And, frankly, I cannot understand how they are doing this, given the strength of the Armenian diaspora in the world. Because they do all this by strengthening the Great Turan project,” Semchenko said.

“The only force that can protect Armenia is Russia. By using the utmost hostile actions towards Russia, they hope that this will turn Russia away from Armenia. When zero hour comes, for example, and there will be some aggressive military actions against Armenia by Turkey and Azerbaijan, then Russia will already be so irritated by the hostile actions of the Armenian leadership that it will not stand by Armenia. At the same time, this may be a provocation aimed at ensuring that Russia still stands up for Armenia and enters into confrontation with this Turkic world,” Semchenko concluded.
