Prosecutor’s Office terminates proceedings against MP Ishkhan Zakaryan

The criminal prosecution against Armenian MP Ishkhan Zakaryan, initiated after the 2021 election, has been terminated.

The Prosecutor General’s Office does not specify when and on what grounds the law enforcement bodies made such a decision.

In response to a written inquiry by the RFE/RL’s Armenian service, the office noted that Zakaryan does not have the status of a defendant in any criminal case.

In 2021, Ishkhan Zakaryan was charged with money laundering, abuse of power, and fraud.
