Ambassador Sobhani: Iran welcomes Armenia’s recognition of Palestine

Iran welcomes Armenia’s recognition of the State of Palestine and assistance to the Palestinian people, Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani told reporters on Friday.

He said this courageous step taken by Armenia demonstrates that the international community attaches importance to the rights of the people of Palestine and opposes the violation of these rights.

“Tehran does not recognize in principle the Zionist regime that kills babies,” Sobhani said, stressing that the countries assisting Palestine and its people are on the side of truth.

The Armenian Foreign Ministry released a statement on June 21 noting that it recognizes Palestinian statehood and stressing its commitment to a peaceful two-state solution to the Palestinian issue.
