AMD, one of the world’s leading semiconductor and processor design and manufacturing companies, has had an office in Armenia since 2019. Now, it is entering a new stage, aiming to advance its research initiatives and strengthen collaboration with local universities.
During his visit to Yerevan, AMD Vice President Dan Gibbons noted the strong potential of Armenian engineers, particularly in algorithms, C++, FPGA, and EDA technologies. According to him, specialists from Armenia demonstrate high quality, professionalism, and low staff turnover, which makes them stand out even compared to Silicon Valley.
Now the company is considering launching a pilot research lab in cooperation with Yerevan State University (YSU) and the National Polytechnic University of Armenia. The goal is not just to enhance its local presence but to integrate Armenia into AMD’s global innovation network.
