The Armenian Foreign Minister addressed Russia’s dissatisfaction with Armenia’s foreign policy and stated that Armenia pursues a balanced foreign policy.

“We are pursuing a balanced foreign policy, we have political initiatives that have passed the first reading in Parliament and suggest that Armenia should begin the process of joining the EU. We have deep relations with the EU, which we are further deepening today, and we also signed a strategic agreement with the United States a few months ago. At the same time, we maintain our partnership with Russia. First of all, we are interested in developing relations with our neighbors, Iran,” Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said during a briefing.

He acknowledged that Armenia’s foreign policy may cause dissatisfaction among some parties but stressed that the country’s authorities are guided by the interests of Armenia.

Ararat Mirzoyan also stated that Armenia is negotiating with Azerbaijan on provisions such as the exclusion of third-party forces from the interstate border of both countries and the resolution of disputes, lawsuits, complaints through international legal platforms.

“If these provisions are agreed upon, signed and come into force, they—like all other clauses—must be executed without exception,” Mirzoyan added.
