Moscow and Yerevan currently have a difficult relationship, given the West’s attempts to bring Armenia under its influence. This was stated by Sergey Lavrov, Russia’s foreign minister, at a briefing.

According to him, the European Union is drawing Armenia into its orbit, and Yerevan risks losing all of its privileges within the EAEU.

Lavrov also expressed regret that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will be absent from the EAEU summit in May.

“We have a relationship with Armenia, and that relationship is close and allied in nature. At the same time, it is not without its difficulties, given how the West is attempting to bring Armenia under its sway, following certain other CIS members, and sever Armenia’s mutually beneficial economic, trade, and investment ties with its CIS and EAEU partners,” said Russia’s foreign minister.
