Baku’s position on Ukraine is a point of disagreement with Moscow, but it does not cast a shadow over bilateral relations between Russia and Azerbaijan, said Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian president.
“As for the position expressed by President Ilham Aliyev, there are a number of states with which we have close relations and which share this position, a position we categorically disagree with, and yes, this is a point of disagreement between us,” Peskov said, commenting on Aliyev’s statements about the situation in Ukraine.
At the same time, the Russian leader’s press secretary stressed that Moscow adheres to a pragmatic approach. “That said, we don’t believe this is a reason for the issue to cast any kind of shadow over our bilateral relations,” Peskov said.
The Kremlin also noted that Russia will continue to develop relations with Azerbaijan in every way possible and will consistently explain its position on Ukraine through all channels.
